How has environmental regulation changed to respond to increasingly complicated environmental problems? In this video RegNet scholar Neil Gunningham traces the journey from 1970s environmental command and control regulation to collaborative environmental governance strategies used today.
Neil Gunningham initially trained in law but his subsequent post-graduate work was in interdisciplinary social science. For the last fifteen years he has applied that training principally in the areas of safety, health and environment, with a focus on regulation and governance. He is currently a Director of the National Research Centre for Occupational Health and Safety Regulation.
