Congratulations to Ian Zhang: Winner of ACCCJ 2017 Jiang-Land-Wang Outstanding Student Paper Award

Congratulations to our PhD student Yan (Ian) Zhang who has received an award for his paper: “Police Discretion and Restorative Justice in China: Stories from the Street-level Police”.

Ian wins the Association of Chinese Criminology and Criminal Justice (ACCCJ) 2017 Jiang-Land-Wang Outstanding Student Paper Award.

The award was presented at the ACCCJ Annual General Meeting on 15 November in Philadelphia, USA.

Ian commenced his PhD program at RegNet in July 2015. He is the recipient of a RegNet Scholarship and HDR Merit Scholarship. His thesis topic is ‘Experience and Prospects for Restorative Pluralism in Chinese Criminal Justice: Lessons from People’s Mediation, Criminal Reconciliation and Traditional “De Gu” Mediation’. Currently, Ian is also the secretary of the Asian Criminological Society and works as the managing editor of the Asian Journal of Criminology.
