Australia: missing in action on conflict prevention?

Miranda Forsyth shared her thoughts with the Development Intelligence Lab on whether Australia is missing in action on conflict prevention.

She said if Australia was to get serious about conflict prevention, building on what is already working to provide peace and stability across communities is a good place to start. She cited the work of the Peace Foundation Melanesia as a good role model in the aftermath of the civil war in Bougainville.

“It taught teams of local participants conflict prevention skills, drawing on positive cultural norms and peace-building skills.”
