I undertook a PhD at RegNet on access to medicines under the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme in Australia.

RegNet was a time and place of intellectual refreshment and nourishment following many years in private practice, studies overseas, working as a lobbyist and much else besides. It was a genuine time and place of respite.

The internationally renowned scholars in residence made everyone welcome and encouraged much intellectual cross-fertilisation among the students who ranged across a very wide range of disciplines and academic fields of interest.

There was a very collegial atmosphere among staff and students, whose only objectives were to pursue excellence in scholarship and to assist others – be they students or academic colleagues – in any and all respects.

The pervading ethos and focus at RegNet was (and is) on social justice in its many forms and needs. It was easy to be inspired working in this environment, and I am immensely grateful for my time at RegNet.

In my current role as a Judge of the largest federal trial court in Australia, I deal with a very wide range of matters, across many Commonwealth jurisdictions, from migration appeals, to human rights disputes, family law, bankruptcy, and intellectual property.
