Australia’s future food security will be challenged by climate change, environmental and resource constraints. There is a need to model the potential impacts of these challenges on Australian food production in order to inform policy interventions to secure a nutritionally adequate and sustainable food supply.
This ARC Linkage project (2012-2015) will use an innovative scenario modelling approach to quantify the potential impacts of environmental challenges on Australian food availability, accessibility and affordability. Policy interventions to help meet these environmental challenges will be identified.

Modelling shows Australia could become food insecure
24 November 2015Modelling suggests that we will become less food secure, with a substantially reduced capacity to export and that some of the foods which we take for granted, we will have to import in the future.
