Wira Kafryawan is a PhD student at the ANU School of Culture, History & Language with research interests in Austronesian and Papuan languages. He is currently working on the documentation and description of Senggi, a Border language of Papua. This language is hitherto undescribed and spoken by approximately 100 active speakers in Senggi village. His previous work, funded by the Endangered Languages Documentation Programme (ELDP), was the documentation and description of Liki, an Austronesian language spoken by 8 remaining speakers on Liki island. He also collaborated with the Endangered Languages Project (ELP) on the revitalization of Tobati in Youtefa Bay, Jayapura. He is actively engaged in documenting basic wordlists of endangered languages in Papua, with several collections involving Sentani, Ormu, Eritai, Burmeso, Kauwera, Papasena, Una, Central Asmat, Kombai, Mandobo Bawah, Wambon, Western Dani, Tabla, Bauzi, Orya, Mawes, Bonggo, Kayupulau and Onin.
