Sandra’s research focuses on domestic and family violence in Australian Muslim communities.
She currently works in the ACT Government in the area of criminal law policy, and has previously worked in the settlement services sector, helping new migrants and refugees settle in Australia.
She is the Women’s Chair of the Federation of Ethnic Communities Councils of Australia where she advocates for Australia’s culturally and linguistically diverse women. She is also a member of the ACT Multicultural Advisory Council, the Advisory Group for the National Strategic Approach to Maternity Services, and the Advisory Committee of the Australian Law Reform Commission’s Review of the Family Law System.
She has qualifications in Law, International Studies, Public Policy, and Middle Eastern and Central Asian Studies.
