Michael is visiting RegNet as a Sir Roland Wilson Fellow. He is also a senior legal official in the Australian government. Over the last decade he has worked on justice and security reform in Australia and Southeast Asia, with a particular focus on combating terrorism and other transnational crimes.

He currently serves as Counsellor (Legal) at the Australian Embassy in Jakarta. Michael completed his PhD at RegNet in 2016, and has published widely on topics including transnational policing and international law. His forthcoming book is Common Enemies: Crime, Policy, and Politics in Australia-Indonesia Relations (2018 OUP).
