Welcoming RegNet’s newest PhD scholars

We were delighted to welcome our newest PhD scholars to the ANU School of Regulation and Global Governance (RegNet) for their orientation this week.

The morning began with an introduction to the PhD program and the intellectual life of RegNet — our research areas, supervisory approach and the many ways our scholars contribute to debates on regulation and global governance. More than an information session, the orientation was a chance to begin building connections. They met with their PhD student representatives, academics and professional staff who will support them throughout their candidature.

This year, we are pleased to welcome Richard Dening (Supervisor: Professor Miranda Forsyth), Lucy Barrow (Supervisor: Associate Professor Jarrett Blaustein), Tola Beavis (Supervisor: Professor Nick Bainton), Kinley Gyeltshen (Supervisor: Professor Miranda Forsyth) and Viona Wijaya (Supervisor: Professor Veronica Taylor) as our newest PhD scholars. The students introduced themselves and shared a little about their research interests. Together, their projects reflect the wide range of research across RegNet.

The morning flowed into a relaxed lunch, where our new scholars were joined by current PhD students, academic colleagues and staff. We were also pleased to welcome some of our new postgraduate students and mark the beginning of their time with us. The informal setting gave students space to chat and ask questions, with a warm welcome and brief introductions from our Director, Professor Kate Henne, and convenors.

To all our students, welcome! We look forward to supporting you as you begin your studies and connect with our vibrant intellectual community.
