
Job opportunity: Research Fellow at RegNet
The School of Regulation and Global Governance (RegNet) is seeking a Research Fellow to make research, teaching and service contributions to the School, College and University, particularly in relation to the Professor Alan Gamlen’s four-year Future Fellowship research program, and to help drive the establishment of the Migration Hub. The Future Fellowship program is entitled ‘Mobility Shocks’, and focuses on the disruptions to human migration and mobility caused by the Covid-19 Pandemic.
This role will work closely with Professor Gamlen and the Hub team. You will be responsible for compiling the latest Australian migration data from a range of sources and analysing it using cutting-edge statistical and computational research methods, as well as developing geospational data visualisation tools to make the findings of the ‘Mobility Shocks’ project accessible and interpretable for a range of audiences. You will coordinate an annual course on migration, including all teaching, assessment and student support responsibilities.
Our Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have a PhD in Computational Social Sciences or a cognate discipline with a record of independent quantitative research on human migration and/or mobility. You will have experience supervising a research team, leading independent research and attracting research funding. You will also have demonstrated experience working co-operatively in a small team and working within a broader university administration and complex stakeholder network, as well as a proven ability to undertake curriculum and program development, deliver quality teaching and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students. To excel in this role, you must have superb oral and written communication skills in English and an ability to maintain a constructive and solutions-focused attitude towards identifying and solving problems with a high degree of independence.
