ASSA ANU Workshop Group 31 July 2018
Regulating Consumptagenic Systems
The ANU School of Regulation and Global Governance (RegNet) hosted an Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia (ASSA) Workshop on ‘Regulating Consumptagenic Systems’ at ANU on 30-31 July 2018.
Led by RegNet academics Professor Sharon Friel FASSA, Professor Valerie Braithwaite FASSA and Dr Ashley Schram, the workshop provided an opportunity for critical analysis and discussion about consumptagenic systems and their implications for human and planetary health. Drawing on a plurality of theoretical perspectives and empirical cases studies, the workshop explored ways of regulating systemic and individual level behaviours in order to reduce excess consumption and ultimately improve population and planetary health. Keep an eye out for the Workshop Report and journal article arising from the discussions.
Participants included academics from RegNet and wider ANU as well as academics from Flinders University, Deakin University, University of Melbourne, University of Sydney, Monash University, University of Queensland, and the Australia Institute.
