Putting Myanmar's inexperienced new lawmakers to the test - Phd scholar Naing Ko Ko featured in Time
RegNet PhD scholar Naing Ko Ko has been featured in an article in Time online. The article looks at the challenges Myanmar faces after its elections in 2015, where many of the newly elected parliamentarians have little or no experience of governing and no legal background.
Naing Ko Ko has been working as a consultant to the National League of Democracy’s (NLD) State Transition Team, developing the training curriculum for new parliamentarians. As the NLD wants to rewrite the constitution, which currently guarantees the military one quarter of the seats in parliament, much of Naing Ko Ko’s time as a consultant has been spent developing the constitution section of the curriculum.
