The Planetary Health Equity Hothouse is an initiative supported by an ARC Laureate Fellowship on governance for planetary health equity and is based in the Australian Research Centre for Health Equity (ARCHE) at the ANU School of Regulation and Global Governance (RegNet). ARCHE seeks to understand the systems of institutions, interests and ideas that shape multisectoral public policy, market practices, and the actions of civil society, and the implications for human and planetary health.

About the opportunities
We are seeking a talented and energetic scholar to join the new ARC Laureate Fellowship team working in the Planetary Health Equity Hothouse. The ARC Laureate Fellowship integrates health, social equity and climate change agendas through the lens of planetary health equity; examines the political economy of the global consumptogenic system, studies the interests, ideas, and institutions involved in governing planetary health equity, and identifies innovative governance approaches to enable the development of intersectoral policy and business practices that advance planetary health equity. Ultimately, the Laureate aims to understand how to address the political, commercial and social determinants of planetary health equity.

The Research Fellow will join a small, collegial, and dedicated team of outstanding interdisciplinary researchers, PhD students and visiting fellowsThe Candidate will work closely with the ARC Laureate Fellow, Professor Sharon Friel, work as part of the Hothouse team, and alongside other ARCHE, RegNet and ANU colleagues.

Our Ideal Candidate
Our ideal candidate will have a PhD degree combining political studies and population health, with relevant research experience in the social/commercial/planetary determinants of health equity. You will have demonstrated experience in conducting original research, scholarly writing/publications, and project management. You will be fully proficient in software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Endnote, NVivo and Twitter. To excel in this role, you will have outstanding research skills, a drive to influence policy and practice related to planetary health equity, attention to detail, and enjoy working in a team.
