RegNet’s Dr Belinda Townsend has been being awarded the Higher Degree Research (HDR) Supervisor of the Month award for March 2024. Her supervisory approach centers on nurturing students' research design skills and building their confidence as they develop their skills and make meaningful contributions throughout their PhD journey.
"My approach to HDR supervision is to work with students as they develop their core competencies for research design - from identifying key regulatory or governance puzzles that are important for addressing social problems, to becoming confident in using theory and designing projects to generate novel insights. I aim to build students’ confidence to see themselves as authoritative experts as they develop their skills and unique contributions throughout their research journey. It is incredibly rewarding to see students develop their knowledge and confidence and ultimately provide important empirical and theoretical insights for addressing current regulatory and governance challenges."
Dr Townsend's dedication to nurturing research excellence among her students is commendable. Congratulations on your well-deserved recognition!
