Gita Putri Damayana receives 2024 Ruth Daroesman Grant

RegNet is pleased to announce that PhD scholar Gita Putri Damayana is one of the latest recipient of 2024 Ruth Daroesman Graduate Study Grant. Gita holds a bachelor’s degree in law from the University of Indonesia and a master’s degree in law from the University of Washington School of Law, Seattle, where she studied under the Fulbright Scholarship Award from the US Department of State.

Her main research areas are law and regulatory reform, legislative process and civic space. Under the supervision of Professors Veronica Taylor, Edward Aspinall and Kate Henne, Gita's research explores who and what shapes Indonesia’s legislative process after the ‘98 Reformasi period, and to what effect. She will be using three case studies of legislative processes to learn how regulatory actors interact and influence legislative quality.

The Ruth Daroesman Graduate Study Grant, managed by the ANU College of Asia and the Pacific in conjunction with the ANU Indonesia Project, aims to support a graduate or HDR student in their research associated with Indonesia. Funding for this grant has been provided by the Ruth Daroesman Endowment and may be used for research expenses (including travel) directly related to the student’s academic interests or future career aspirations.
