Steven Karras

Clinic Fellow, Regulation & Governance Research and Practice Clinic

Steven is completing the Master of Regulation and Governance at the Australian National University, seeking to complement his post graduate qualifications in law and business.

Steven leads the professional standards branch for a state government agency contributing to a positive culture change within the organisation. Prior to this role, but within the same organisation, Steven led multiple blended project teams of uniformed and civilian public servants in the design development and operational commissioning of newly built and expanded facilities, with responsibility for strategic infrastructure planning and the creation of functional specifications and standards.

Commencing professional life as a police officer for 7 years, Steven moved into private practice as a lawyer managing his own firm for 11 years. Highly valuing public service and supporting the safety, prosperity and unity of the Australian community, Steven had a calling to return moving into a Commonwealth government department. His roles included leading whole-of- state, regional operations as well as service delivery of business lines.
