Aims

The specific aims of the Centre are to:

  • Conduct and facilitate high quality empirical and policy-focused research into work health and safety regulation.
  • Facilitate and promote groups of collaborating researchers to conduct empirical and policy-focused research into work health and safety regulation.
  • Facilitate the integration of research into work health and safety regulation with research findings in other areas of regulation.
  • Produce reports on national and international developments in work health and safety regulation.
  • Develop the research skills of young work health and safety researchers.

Activities

In order to achieve these aims, the Centre undertakes the following activities:

  • Monitors, documents and analyses Australian and international developments in work health and safety regulation and research, as well as related areas of regulation.
  • Seeks research funding and conducts research projects which involve Centre staff, graduate research students and collaborating researchers from other research centres in Australia and overseas.
  • Produces a web-based series of working papers reporting research and examining key developments in work health and safety regulation.
  • Maintains a website for working papers, information about work health and safety regulation, links to other regulation websites, and profiles of work health and safety regulation researchers.
  • Seeks to attract post-graduate students (PhD and Masters) to conduct research into work health and safety regulation.
  • Encourages and supports a Work Health and Safety Regulatory Research Consortium, comprising collaborating researchers and research centres in each of the Australian States and Territories.
