The Preliminary Phase of the Cyprus Peace Process: An Insider’s View

Abstract:
In this seminar, to be conducted under Chatham House rules*, Jeremy Farrall will reflect on his experience working as a United Nations Facilitator in Cyprus during the preliminary phase of the current peace process. Between May and September last year Jeremy facilitated (chaired) the discussions of the Cypriot Working Group on Governance and Power Sharing. The Working Group discussed and prepared a report on the likely parameters of a future federal power-sharing structure. This report is being drawn upon by the leaders of the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot communities in their current peace talks. * Chatham House Rule: "When a meeting, or part thereof, is held under the Chatham House Rule, participants are free to use the information received, but neither the identity nor the affiliation of the speaker(s), nor that of any other participant, may be revealed". |
