Tapera has worked as an advisor to the UN Special Rapporteur on the rights of freedom of peace assembly and association focusing on civil society engagement and on developing best practice guidelines for state parties. He is one of the founders of, and serves on the advisory board of, the World Youth Movement for Democracy - a global network supporting young democracy and human rights activists in fragile and emerging democracies.
Tapera will be with us until December and will be working with Sharon Friel. His research will focus on the politics of food security in the negotiations of the PACER-Plus. In particular, he is interested in exploring food security outcomes of the agreement and how different stakeholders have influenced the process.
