Helena is a Research Officer at RegNet and assists Professor Veronica Taylor with projects in the areas of rule of law and governance, justice and human rights, among others.
She has a background in development aid and worked as an advisor in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Portugal and as an electoral officer and democratic governance officer in the UN Peacekeeping Mission in East Timor (UNMIT). She was for a few years an international affairs advisor at the Timor Gap oil company.
Helena holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations and a Master’s degree in International Relations (Diplomacy and Cooperation) from the University of Lisbon, with part of her studies taking place at the University of Genoa. Helena is also a student of the University of Dundee and is completing an MBA in International Oil & Gas Management.
Helena has worked at the ANU since 2016 and currently also administers the Education portfolio at RegNet. She is on one year secondment from the College of Asia and the Pacific.
