Susanne Karstedt joined the University of Leeds as a Professor in 2009, having previously held a Chair in Criminology at Keele University, UK. Before that, she researched and taught at the universities of Bielefeld and Hamburg, Germany. Susanne received the Christa-Hoffmann-Riehm Award for Socio-Legal Studies in 2005, and the Sellin-Glueck-Award of the American Society of Criminology in 2007. She was a visitor at ANU in 1997, 2004, 2011 and 2013, at the Catholic University of Leuven and the American Bar Foundation. She regularly teaches in the International Master’s Programme of the International Institute of Sociology of Law, Onati, Spain.
Professor Karstedt’s most recent visit to RegNet was from 10 March - 14 April 2014. During her stay Professor Karstedt worked with our first year PhD cohort on research design and practice and presented a quantitative methods workshop with Professor Valerie Braithwaite.
