Dr Anne Gallagher AO is a leading global expert on the international law on human trafficking. In June she was named one of ten 'heroes' who have made a significant contribution in the struggle against modern slavery by US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.
The award recognised her ambitious efforts to strengthen legislative and criminal justice responses to trafficking in Southeast Asia and her substantial contribution to identify the core elements of a comprehensive anti-trafficking model.
In this interview with Professor Hilary Charlesworth from the ANU College of Law and the ANU College of Asia and the Pacific, Dr Gallagher, who is also an ANU graduate, discusses her award and her work over two decades combating human trafficking, including during her time as an Advisor to the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.
