Belinda Townsend is a Research Fellow at RegNet. She earned her PhD in political science at Deakin University and has undergraduate degrees in political science (Honours), anthropology and public health.

Belinda highlights that Australia has fallen behind other OECD countries in primary caregiver leave, dedicated father/partner leave and income replacement. She suggests that viable options include increasing the length of leave and government payments to Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development average, or increasing dedicated leave entitlements for fathers.
