Australia elected to UN Human Rights Council

18th October 2017

Australia was elected to the UN Human Rights Council on 17 October 2017.

In this clip, ABC News interviews RegNet’s Hilary Charlesworth about what this means for Australia.

Professor Charlesworth points out that election is not an endorsement of Australia’s human rights record so far, but could potentially encourage them to strengthen their human rights record in the future.
