As Director of Education, I am excited that you are considering pursuing a higher degree by research (HDR) at RegNet. Through our interdisciplinary education program, we are working to train the next generation of problem solvers in academia, public service and non-governmental organisations. Whether your background is in sociology, public health, law, anthropology, history, psychology or another social science, you will find that our PhD degree will provide you with the necessary critical research and communications skills to make innovative contributions to your chosen area of study. In addition, RegNet, an internationally recognised academic centre, has a well-established global network, which can open doors in Australia and overseas.

At RegNet, we take great pride in our work, our people and our principles of social justice, sustainability and wellbeing. Our HDR students are an integral part of our mission and intellectual community. RegNet is a place where you will find supportive peers, friendly staff and world-class faculty committed to your scholarly and professional development. Together, we work to make each student’s experience a rich and fulfilling one that broadens her or his intellectual horizons.

The RegNet PhD program has a long history of producing highly trained scholars who go on to be leaders in their fields. We provide a dynamic environment where students participate in academic and professional development training through formal coursework, hands-on workshops, peer-learning modules and independent study guided by experienced supervisors. The program is designed to develop students’ theoretical and methodological sophistication to prepare them for a career of work that contributes to good governance. In sum, it is a stimulating curriculum that will expand your understanding of regulation and governance in a globalised world; it is a demanding curriculum that can fulfill your intellectual curiosity.

I encourage you to continue browsing through our website for information about our education program, our academic staff’s expertise and our PhD scholars’ profiles. Please feel free to contact me or the HDR Convenor Dr Christian Downie directly if you have any questions or would like to discuss the RegNet higher degree by research program further.
