The Australian Academy of Law will be holding what promises to be an event of great interest in Canberra on Wednesday 25 March.
Professor Hilary Charlesworth and Henry Burmester AO QC will speak on a subject that few Australian lawyers know much about - the workings of the International Court of Justice in The Hague - in a public lecture entitled 'The whaling case in the International Court of Justice: perspectives from the bench and bar table' on 25 March 2015.
Professor Hilary Charlesworth will discuss her experience as ad hoc judge in the International Court of Justice in the Whaling in the Antarctic Case while Henry Burmester AO QC, former Head of the Offi ce of International Law in the Attorney-General’s Department, and former Chief General Counsel in the Australian Government Solicitor will discuss the case from his perspective as one of the Australian counsel.
